アイルランド修学旅行レポート＃1(7/10～国際キャリアコース）
7/10(水) 国際キャリアコース２年Ｉ組の生徒たち29名は、朝8時に成田空港第一ターミナルに集合し、多くの保護者の方々に見送られながらKL862便にてアイルランド・ダブリンへ出発しました。今日から10日間の修学旅行が始まります。
アイルランドはイギリスのすぐ隣に位置する島国で、それまでのイギリス領から1916年に独立。現在の人口は約460万人、面積は北海道とほぼ同じで、自然にあふれ、治安の良い安全な国として知られています。生徒たちはホームステイをしながら、日中は現地の短期大学St. Leo's Collegeに通い、学生バディーと一緒に授業に参加します。また、週末はホームステイ先のホストファミリーと一緒に家族の一員として観光やショッピングを楽しむ予定です。この修学旅行は日ごろ学んでいる語学力が試される絶好の機会となり、積極的に現地の人たちとの交流を深めてくれることを期待しています。
Ireland Day 1
The flight to Ireland yesterday was long but everyone arrived in good spirts and good health.After arriving, we went straight to the hotel to check in and prepare for their first full day in Ireland today.
After breakfast and checking out of the hotel, we went around Dublin, the capital of Ireland on a short tour. The first stop was Phoenix Park, the largest enclosed park in Europe, which is known for the large Papal Cross built in 1979.
After that, we visited St. Patrick's Cathedral, which is the National Cathedral and also the tallest and largest church in Ireland. It is also where Jonathan Swift, the author of Gulliver's Travels, was buried. After exploring and buying souvenirs, we moved to Trinity College where the Book of Kells, the oldest book in the world, is housed. It is also the inspiration for the libraries in the "Harry Potter" and "Star Wars" movies. After a brief rest for lunch, we walked to Grafton Street for free time where the kids enjoyed shopping and live music.
Towards the end of the day, we drove from Dublin to Carlow, where the students finally met their host families. This is where the real adventure begins.
